Interlaken is the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, and the transfer is longer in feel than in distance because the last third is not motorway. It carries a different passenger from the Graubünden runs — more leisure, more families, more onward legs to Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren.
Two of those onward villages are car-free, which is the fact worth knowing at the point of booking rather than at the valley station.
