Drive time

Winterthur is the closest thing to a routine run in the whole table: motorway from door to door, no pass, no border, no tunnel that can queue. It is one of the few routes where the published drive time is genuinely the drive time.

That makes it a poor place to pay for improvisation and a good place to insist on a fixed fare, because there is nothing about this journey a supplier could plausibly claim to have absorbed.

The road

The A1 east from the airport interchange. Two exits serve the centre and the Technopark; the industrial quarters north of the Töss are reached faster from Oberwinterthur, which is worth telling the desk if that is where the meeting is.

Winter on this route

Nothing seasonal beyond the usual. Winter tyres from October to April, and the A1 is among the first stretches cleared in the canton.

What the fare includes
  • Sixty minutes of waiting after the aircraft lands, free of charge.
  • A chauffeur inside arrivals with your name, and the luggage carried to the car.
  • Flight monitoring — the pickup moves with the inbound, and the fare does not.
  • Motorway tolls, the Swiss vignette and any foreign vignette the route needs.
  • 8.1% VAT and passenger insurance.

Questions we get on this route

Is a chauffeur transfer to Winterthur faster than the train?

Not usually, door to door. It is quieter, it carries the luggage, and it does not require a change at the airport station — which is why clients book it for early arrivals.

Can the car wait and take us back to the airport later?

Yes, and under about four hours the hourly rate is normally cheaper than two separate transfers. The desk will say which applies.

Do you cover the Winterthur industrial sites and Kemptthal?

Yes. Both sit on the same corridor and the fare is unchanged; only the exit differs.
